Dr Axel Wietfeld holds the position of Executive Vice President Procurement & Real Estate (Chief Procurement Officer) of Uniper SE with overall responsibility of all direct and indirect spend (>2 bn€ p.a.) and leads an international team of around 250 employees.

Axel also serves as the Chairperson of the H2Global Foundation whose mission is the timely market ramp-up to produce green hydrogen and derivatives in Europe as well as fostering their import.

Axel joined Uniper (formerly E.ON) in 2002, holding various executive roles in its gas supply/LNG, gas storage and renewables businesses in Germany, the United Arab Emirates, Hungary and South Africa. In his recent position as CEO for Uniper Hydrogen, Axel has been instrumental in leading the organisation’s hydrogen business line, focusing on transitioning the group toward greener energy.

Before joining E.ON, Axel worked as a manager at two strategy consulting firms.
