Dr. Shen Wang is the CEO of SAFPAC Ltd., a pioneering Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) producer headquartered in Hong Kong. He has more than 15 years of experience in energy technology, energy transition, energy-related project finance & project development, and sustainable finance.
Dr. Wang was the research geophysicist working at TOTAL Energies. He was widely recognized as a leading expert in Full Waveform Inversion, high performance computing, and 3D seismic imaging. He has published more than 30 peer-review papers and conference abstracts in the field of energy exploration & production. Dr. Wang obtained his attorney license in 2016 and worked at White & Case LLP as a project finance and M&A lawyer. He has in-depth legal experience in LNG, CCUS, hydrogen, and renewable energy related project finance & project development. Since 2019, Dr. Wang was the senior director of catastrophe risk management working at a leading reinsurance company. He has pioneered in applying catastrophe risk management tools to mitigate climate-related risks.
Dr. Wang obtained B.S. degrees in mathematics and geophysics from Peking University in 2007, obtained Ph.D. degree in applied mathematics and geophysics from Purdue University in 2012, and obtained J.D. degree from University of Houston in 2016. Dr. Wang was licensed in 2016 by the State Bar of Texas to practice law.
