Dinesh Cheryan is Director of Commercial, Economics and Planning for Hess Corporation in Asia and is based in Kuala Lumpur. His remit covers i) commercial negotiations with partners, gas buyers and regulators, ii) economic evaluations of investment decisions and deal opportunities, and iii) corporate planning for the Asia assets. Prior to this, Dinesh was based in Houston as Director of Value Assurance, providing technical and business assurance to investment decisions within the corporation. For a period of five years, he was the Chief Economist at Hess. In this role he had functional responsibility for economic evaluations across all the business units (conventional, unconventional, exploration, new ventures).
Before working at Hess, Dinesh worked at Shell and was based in KL and the Netherlands in roles that included economics, new ventures and engineering. Aside from this, he has spent time as a Research Economist in academia between stints in these companies. He is an active member of the various industry organizations such as the Malaysia Gas Association (MGA) and the Association of International Energy Negotiators (AIEN). He has around 20years experience in the upstream oil and gas industry.
Dinesh who is Malaysian, has degrees in Engineering and Economics from the UK.
